Christmas bags for VOH , Assembly line sewing by the women of St Matthew Parish in Statesboro, GA
We really had a very productive day with the assembly line! The comradery and sense of togetherness was very evident as we worked side by side. Thanks to those who sewed and those who cut and those who ironed – a really important part of this bag-making process is pressing correctly – and those who matched up tee-shirt strips with the colors of the bags and those threaded the strips through to make the ties. The Christmas bags are turning out SO cute and so colorful thanks to you all! Thanks too to everyone who helped clean up and pack up all our stuff! We have about 100 completed bags now plus a lot more that are almost completed that members of the group have taken home to finish.
Our own Susan B will be a part of Dr. Smith’s medical mission team when he goes to Haiti in October! We are so pleased that the team and the Haitians will have the benefits of her medical skills but we are also pleased that she will be able to assess needs and can help us prioritize our sewing for next year.
