The Village of Hope Health Center has a malnutrition clinic every Tuesday for children and families who meet specific qualifications. This program improves the quality of life for 30- 50 families weekly. We got to see a graduate from the malnutrition program thriving out in the village where he lives.
We were in the field doing a mobile clinic. A handsome, healthy two-year-old boy kept coming back to love on Dr Joseph. I figured they must know each other so I went over to talk to the boy. I found out why Stander Destin was so attached to Dr Joseph. At 14 months old he was enrolled in the malnutrition program at the Village of Hope Health Center. This program trains moms on the importance of proper nutrition and recognizing malnutrition. They also receive food (sugar, oil, ground corn, rice, and beans), vitamins, worm medication, and plumpy nut. He entered the program at 9 pounds and 8 ounces. After 10 months receiving weekly medical care, he was released from the program because he no longer met the weight guidelines per UNICEF. He is now a happy, healthy, and active 21 pounds! God is so good!
