Bonswa VOH family and friends. This week after our return from a much needed vacation with our children we have felt almost overwhelmed. I have tried a few times to put it into words but it’s always just ramblings. Haiti will always keep you wondering what next. Right now this feeling is not one that is comfortable. The quiet here and the calm is unnatural. The darkness is obvious.
The riots were very Intense. Many people say it’s the worst they have ever seen here. Protest are the people’s only voice in Haiti to get the governments attention. This was so much more than that. Yesterday we went to church and as we drove past places that we always shopped at like pharmacies, gas stations, groceries, office stores, restaurants, whole plazas, etc. that were nothing more than burned remnants my heart just broke. It is like a war zone out there. Think of all the families that lost their only source of income by someone loosing their job. This is unfair on so many levels.
This was a few thugs taking advantage of the situation and destroying lives! It has changed many things here in Haiti. Satan has a strong foothold here and evil is so evident. But the important thing to remember is this is not all of Haiti. It was only a small percent of people and this to shall come to pass. Haiti is beautiful and her people are a beautiful people. Please pray with us for change!
We are uncertain what to expect next as we are still without government officials and the gas price must be raised before the IMF will continue giving funds to Haiti. There may be more protests to come? Keep Haiti in your prayers. She will rise from the ashes and be a beautiful country one day!
Today we visited the health center and school. We had no damage and all staff are all accounted for and we are praising God for this. We spent a lot of time listening and loving as many people have stories that are unreal and they naturally have a hard time processing Keep our staff in your prayers.
