Dubout, Haiti
Dubout is a small farming village about a 30-minute drive south of Cap Haitien. In 2023, we partnered with Y-KNOT Missions and Mission of Hope to make a substantial impact on the school and community. The school is, with 125 students, is currently located in the sanctuary of Eglise Nouvelle vie.
VOH provided more than 35,000 meals for the students at the schools in Dubout and Bord de Mer this year. We purchased food, pots, pans, bowls, clean water, and provided funds to pay the cooks.
- Prior to our collaboration, these students did not receive a lunch and only went school ½ day. The lunch program has allowed the school to extend the curriculum to a full day.
- The meals have boosted attendance to 98% each day.
- Children are gaining weight and have energy for the day.
- Children are excited to come to school and are focused.
- Cooks were hired to prepare the meals and have provided additional jobs within the village.
VOH purchased books, school supplies and playground toys for 225 students at the schools in Dubout and Bord de Mer.
- Every child has a complete supply of books which can be used for multiple years.
- Every child has wipe board and marker for classroom use.
- Every child has pencils and notebooks for their studies.
- Parents are so thankful because they were not able to afford these essential items for their children.
- Students have a renewed sense of hope for their futures.
